A Little about our Speaker ~ Yinka Oyekan:
Yinka, originally from Nigeria, is the Baptist Minister at the centre of the so called 2016 'Reading Revival' which led to the formation of THE TURNING, a rapidly growing initiative that seeks to empower church leaders and their congregations to reach out to the people on the streets of their neighbourhoods. Next year Yinka is working with churches all over the country to promote THE TURNING's MISSION ENGLAND which will see 1000's of people coming to know Jesus on the streets of their town's and cities. [read more: Who is Yinka Oyekan?]
Yinka came to the UK in 1998 to learn under the tutorage of Cornish evangelist Don Double of the Good News Crusade. This has given him a great spiritual foundation - not that he needed it. His father was the King (Oba) of Lagos! Adeyinka Oba Oyekan II was the second Christian Oba of Lagos and had been a Sunday School teacher before being enthroned. This has given his son Yinka a wonderfully rich Christian heritage both in earthly and heavenly terms which comes across in his ministry.
The Beacon Center @ St Mary's Ferndown.
This lunchtime meeting is primarily for local church leaders throughout Christchurch, Bournemouth and Poole but interested church members are welcome along too. The meal will be excellent too with food provided by the Beacon Center Cafe at St Mary's Church Ferndown. Last years meal with Roy Crowne was fabulous and everyone was really complimentary regarding the lunchtime spread.

The Turning Bournemouth 2019?
There is an golden opportunity to take part in The Turning's ~ Mission England next year when Yinka brings his team to Bournemouth in June 2019.
The proposed Turning Bournemouth 2019 has been diaried for June 14th through 22nd next year which will encompass Moorlands College Missions week. Colin Bennett of Moorlands, Colin Mitchell of Baylink and Brian Edgeley of Wessex Filling Station are exploring the possibility of working together to spearhead this proposed mission.
Speaking to Roy Crowne recently about HOPE and also the possibilities for further mission in 2019 he said:
"As we gauge the impact of HOPE 2018 on the life of churches the length and breadth of the country, we see the true impact is in communities which are touched by churches working together for the good of their neighbourhoods. It warms my heart to hear how Moorlands, LEAF, Baylink and Wessex Filling Station have worked together on HOPE 2018 and how there is the potential - the possibility, of them working together again with Yinka Oyekan's THE TURNING; that would be so exciting for 2019.”
