AFCB Community Christmas Carols Event
Each year Revd. Andy Rimmer (pictured below:) and the Chaplaincy team at AFC Bournemouth put on a very special community celebration of Christmas at Dean Court, open the doors and let the fans, their families and the local churches in to sing Christmas Carols together.
Revd. Rimmer, who is the Vicar of the Lantern Church Merley and is passionate about all things sport, plans the Christmas event in association with various local agencies and charities. This years Community Christmas Carol event is supporting the local Foodbank, HOPE FM, The Salvation Army and the work of the YMCA.
The Event which will be held in the Vitality Stadium at Dean Court so Andy and the team pray for good weather and clear skies as it can be very cold on these early December nights - so do wrap up warm! The singing of carols will be led by the Winton Salvation Army band along with Bournemouth Junior School Choir. Plus local choir 'Do You Hear The People Sing?' shall be performing.
The event will also be supported by staff, management, players and their families, but ultimately this event is for the COMMUNITY! Club Chairman Jeff Mostyn told Wessex Filling Station director Brian Edgeley in 2015 that "the club is very much a community orientated club. We are there for the community and ultimately have a responsibility to the people of Bournemouth and want to see them encouraged. Christmas is a wonderful time for the family so what could be better than us to open our doors to families to come together and celebrate Christmas together".
As Wessex Filling Station does not hold a meeting in December it was decided from conception to support the AFC Bournemouth Community Christmas Carols Event each year and will actively encourage its audience and host teams to go along and support the event.
