Life on the Streets
Our keynote speaker for two nights in April 2018 is Richard Sanderson, Director of New Hope for Children (UK) and Children's Vision International Inc. Richard, an ex British Gas employee from Sheffield, is going to be speaking at the Thursday evening Filling Station and then again on Friday at a United Youth Event!
Richard has spent the last 16 years working as a missionary in Bogota, Colombia, with poor street children. (who is Richard Sanderson?)
Throughout this year Wessex Filling Station is focusing on mission, both at home and abroad, which reflects the national churches heartbeat for HOPE 2018 - a year of mission. April firmly focuses our sights on mission abroad and Richard will share with us stories which will captivate your heart, encourage your soul and enrich your own Christian experience.
Richard is passionate about his work, and as part of his UK nationwide tour in April 2018, he will share his experiences and passion for God, and compassion for the street children of Bogota. He writes:
"I am really looking forward to being able to share at The Wessex Filling Station meetings about the incredible power and love of God which is at work in Colombia! I am going to speak with a special focus on a heart and mind for mission."
Richard first visited Colombia as part of a short term mission in 1999; that trip led to a further mission visit during which he had a life changing experience, one which changed his perspective on life, faith and action forever.
Richard and his wife, Jeanene give a safe home and a loving and caring family environment to 90 children, from babies to young adults, through the 4 Christian care homes they established in Bogota. They also run a school called the 'Children’s Vision Beginning of Wisdom School', where those children - along with 100 other children from local poor families - are educated.
Youth Event in Christchurch
As part of the Dorset leg of his nationwide tour Richard will also be speaking at a special youth event on Friday night 27th April at Twynham Church which Wessex Filling Station, plus a network of local Youth Pastors has arranged. <see here for Event details>
As Wessex Filling Station gives the wider church across Christchurch, Bournemouth and Poole the opportunity to come together for both worship and great teaching; we look forward to welcoming you there as you come and join us.
Worship will be led by Brian Edgeley and Ali Woods, and members of the filling station worship team, who reflect a number of different churches. It is a sign of our unity and commitment to church unity that we come together each month to lead these meetings.
We hope to see you there.
